John Powell, of InterFlight Global Corporation, explains the feasibility of getting air transport service back in Inyokern. With a community commitment of as few as four roundtrips a day, air service can realistically be sustainable in the area. It is possible to attract travelers from as far as Bishop or Palmdale, and this new small community model will be unique in the country.

John Powell, of InterFlight Global Corporation, explained the feasibility of getting air transport service back in Inyokern during a recent presentation. With a community commitment of as few as four roundtrips a day, air service can realistically be sustainable in the area, according to Powell. Las Vegas is the most likely choice of hub, offering the fastest travel times and with the best international options. In addition to several federal and state finance options, there is a possibility of getting some kind of funding or sponsorship from Vegas casinos and organizations. A choice needs to be made between hiring an appropriate operator service or spending more time and money on establishing a local operation which gives local communities more control over the service provided, Powell said.
